Snow Clouds

Today is most peculiar, weatherwise.
Most of the day has been like spring:
full of warmth and sunshine, blue skies and gentle breezes.
Not even a sweater required.
And yet, tonight it is supposed to snow
anywhere from a skiff to 8 inches.
Area schools have already closed in advance of the possibility.

By 4:00 p.m. the spring day became a distant memory
as the sky turned cloudy and gray,
and the wind turned cold as the temperature dropped.
And so we are all keeping a vigil.
Watching for fluffy white flakes of snow
to start falling from the snow clouds
in the next two or three hours.
And so we wait....
