7 Wonders, No. 7

The edge of the sea is a strange and beautiful place.
                                                --Rachel Carson

Today, the seventh of my seven wonders--
what else? The ocean.

Walking along the beach of the Atlantic or the Pacific
gives one a sense of nature's magnificence and mystery.
I've never looked at the ocean waves without feeling a sense of peace.
Some people believe  that is because the ocean waters carry spiritual energy.
Or the sense of peace may be more primal,
as it was once described by John F. Kennedy:

We are tied to the ocean
And  when we go back to the sea,
whether it is to sail or to watch,
we are going back from whence we came.

I don't know which it is, but I do know it is wonderful.
Here's a view of the oceanfront in Virginia Beach:

And in the next photo, the waves rolling in from the Atlantic.
Waves here are more gentle than those on the Pacific,
which is rather ironic considering the oceans' names:

Flowers, weather, birds, rocks, trees, the moon and stars,
and the ocean. These are my 7 wonders.
What are yours?
