Black Flowers

Nancy Byrd Turner once wrote a poem celebrating October
called "Black and Gold."
Here it is:

Everything is black and gold,
Black and gold, to-night:
Yellow pumpkins, yellow moon
Yellow candlelight;
Jet-black cats with golden eyes
Shadows black as ink,
Firelight blinking in the dark
With a yellow blink
Black and gold, black and gold
Nothing in between-
When the world turns black and gold
Then it's Halloween!

I thought of this poem when I saw some black flowers in Google images.
And I though, what better choice for Halloween then black flowers?
Here are a few:
Black iris:

black tulips:
black pansies:

black and gold:

When mixed with golden orange and white,
black flowers are just right for celebrating the month of October.
