A serious storm was forecast for yesterday in Virginia,
so as the wind was picking up and blowing the trees around,
I hurried outside to cut some of my hydrangeas and herbs
before they were beaten down by the heavy rain.
As it turns out, any serious weather went somewhere else
and we ended up with less than a 1/4 inch of rain..
But this morning was cloudy and cool and rather dismal looking for a summer day in June,
so I was glad the flowers and herbs I'd cut were in the house.
Here are the hydrangeas I gathered:
Some were blue:
And some were shades of pink and violet:
Gathering flowers gladdens the heart
no matter what the weather.
